Harakeke Planting at Hamanatua .

Thankfully the weather was great today as we headed down to Hamanatua to plant 48 Harakeke plants that had been donated to us by the Native Tree Project.

The harakeke were planted as a safety net for people who use the pathway - cyclists, skateboarders and scooter riders.  The pathway is quite steep and runs alongside Hamanatua Stream.  The harakeke will allow for a soft landing and not a SPLASH should anyone get the speed-wobbles.

Check out our day of mahi.

You have been working hard. All the harakeke will make a big difference to the environment in that area.
Do you know harakeke can be a whole community on it's own. See here: https://www.doc.govt.nz/Documents/about-doc/concessions-and-permits/conservation-revealed/harakeke-flax-lowres.pdf
    Did the dog help too?

Thanks for the link- a very user friendly fact sheet about harakeke - handy for reading workshop:-)
There were 2 dogs actually and of no help really - more a fun distraction:-) They come down to Hamanatua every time we go down. They are a part of the Room 1 whanau!
